The Meaning Behind the Name

The name “Enkidu” comes from the ancient Mesopotamian Epic of Gilgamesh, one of the oldest recorded stories in human history.

In the epic, Enkidu is a figure deeply connected to the natural world — wild, grounded, and shaped by the land itself. Through his friendship with Gilgamesh, the story explores themes of growth, stewardship, mortality, and humanity’s relationship with nature.
